District Attorney Craig Ladd confirmed two men and a woman were arrested Friday in connection with the rape and killing of a beloved Murray State College instructor.

Ladd said formal charges are still pending in the death of Jane Ann Bullard, 60. Bullard’s body was found March 5 in her burning home.

Roy Curtis Zornes Jr., 23, James Ervin Baker, 41, and Angel Valencia Cassa, 19, all of Tishomingo, werearrested Friday and are being held in lieu of bail. One of the men is a former foster son of Bullard.

“We are still reviewing the information and reports,” Ladd said. “At this point, exactly what each individual will be charged with has not been determined.”

However, the district attorney said he anticipated Assistant District Attorney Charles Migliorino would be filing formal charges early this week.

Unconfirmed reports say the three went to Bullard’s home to borrow money. When she told them she didn’t have it to give, she was hit over the head with a blunt object and some of her belongings were taken.

The State Medical Examiner has yet to release an official report, but Johnston County Sheriff Tom Winkler said Thursday Bullard died of blunt force trauma.

Numerous attempts to reach Winkler were unsuccessful.
