The driver of a 2000 Ford Explorer involved in an asleep-at-the-wheel crash on Interstate 35 early Monday has been identified as Jose Martinez Salazar, of Frisco, Texas.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said Salazar’s name had been withheld pending the notification of family members.
OHP reports indicate Salazar’s SUV was northbound near the 51 mile marker about 3:45 a.m. when the vehicle ran off the road. Salazar overcorrected, sending the SUV into a broad slide before it rolled three times. The 24-year-old man was air lifted from the scene with multiple injuries and taken to Norman Regional Hospital. The patrol said hospital officials described his condition as stable.

Salazar was not wearing a seatbelt.

Cause of the accident was listed as driver being sleepy.
