A Gainesville, Texas woman was injured early Sunday when she was struck by a car as she walked on a county road near Thackerville.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said the woman was walking southbound about 1:51 a.m. in the northbound lane of Merle Wolfe Road 2 miles south of Thackerville. She was hit by a northbound 2010 Honda Accord, driven by Camille Silmon, 47, Grand Prairie, Texas. The impact knocked the pedestrian approximately 22 feet. She was airlifted from the scene and taken to Medical City, located at Plano, Texas. The patrol said the woman, whose name was withheld pending the notification of relatives, was admitted in what was described as stable condition with multiple injuries.
OHP reports indicate Silmon pulled onto the shoulder of the road following the accident. She was not injured, nor was a passenger in the Honda, identified as Sullivan Mathis, 40, Grand Prairie. Both Silmon and Mathis were wearing seatbelts.
The cause of the collision was listed as pedestrian in roadway.
