Wilson High School Spanish and Leadership Teacher Johnny Richardson received a nomination for teacher of the year. The parent who nominated Richardson said they did not know what Wilson would do without him.
Carter nominated
Plainview Vocal Music Director Diana Carter received a nomination for teacher of the year. The parent who notated Carter had this to say about her: "She has made music come to life for my children. She works hard and expects the same from her students."
Adams nominated for teacher of the year
Ardmore Middle School Science Teacher Joey Adams received a nomination for teacher of the year. The parent who nominated Adams called him an “outstanding teacher that goes above his daily duties.” They also had this to say: “He is a hands on teacher and the kids really enjoy is science class.”
Smith nominated
Healdton Pre-K Teacher Kelsi Smith received a nomination for teacher of the year. The parent who nominated her said four of their five children have had Smith as a teacher. The parent also had this to say: “She’s a wonderful Pre-K teacher who makes their first year of school fun, educational and definitely leaves a lasting impression on both the student and the parent. She goes out of her way to make sure each child is taken care of and feels loved.”
Little nominated
Retired educator and former Headmaster for Oak Hall Episcopal School Ginny Little received a nomination for teacher of the year. Little serves as executive director for the A+ Reading Room, a nonprofit organization dedicated to teaching the English language to children with learning differences or dyslexia. Her nomination said that she was always willing to take time for students, teachers and parents, and she even spent her own money to buy supplies if needed.
TEACHERS OF THE YEAR
Dickson Middle School and High School Vocal Music Teacher Andrea Shahan has been voted area teacher of the year. In the classroom, Shahan teaches students in the sixth through 12th grades. However, she also has experience in Dickson classrooms as a student herself
