Biden promises new Ukraine aid

BRUSSELS – President Joe Biden and Western allies pledged new sanctions and humanitarian aid on Thursday in response to Vladimir Putin’s assault on Ukraine, but their offers fell short of the more robust military assistance that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy pleaded for in a pair of live-video appearances.

SEOUL, South Korea – North Korea test-fired possibly its biggest intercontinental ballistic missile toward the sea Thursday, according to its neighbors, raising the ante in a pressure campaign aimed at forcing the United States and other rivals to accept it as a nuclear power and remove crippling sanctions.

Norman residents protest planned turnpike project

With homemade signs and a fear their homes may be destroyed in an effort to build a new turnpike, Norman residents took to the state Capitol on Wednesday in protest to a planned expansion. The proposed turnpike, intended to run through parts of northeast Norman and Cleveland County, brought residents and government officials together in the Capitol Rotunda to make their voices heard concerning government overreach, loss of homes and irreversible ecological impacts.
