Did you know that in Oklahoma, an estimated 9 out of 10 drug overdose deaths were unintentional according to the Oklahoma Department of Health? Accidental overdoses can occur when a person mistakenly takes their ADHD medication twice, when someone ingests a medication that was not prescribed to them, when a child mistakes a Phentermine tablet or edible for candy, or when stimulant medication or medical marijuana products are mixed with other drugs and/or alcohol.

Origami wreath class at Champion Public Library

Looking for a holiday craft to participate in? Bring your crafting spirit to Champion Public Library! Learn about the art of origami and create your very own mini holiday wreath on Thursday, December 8 at 5:30 p.m.! This mini wreath is easy to create, no glue required, and can be used for decorating the holiday tree, presents and more. Along with the wreath, participants will learn how to create an origami bow for decoration. All supplies will be provided by the library. Guests ages 8 and up are welcome to attend. Class size is limited, and reservations are encouraged.

Jerry Alvord sworn in, begins first term in Senate

OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. Jerry Alvord is officially on the job for Senate District 14 after taking his oath of office Wednesday at the state Capitol. The ceremony was presided over by Lt. Gov. Matt Pinnell with the oath administered by Oklahoma Supreme Court Chief Justice Richard Darby. Alvord was joined by his wife, Shelly, and other family, friends, and supporters. “It is truly an honor to get to continue my public service to the good folks of southern Oklahoma in the esteemed Senate,” Alvord said. “I’m looking forward to furthering efforts to stop federal overreach, fight to protect the unborn and our Second Amendment rights, as well as protect our agriculture industry and small businesses.”
