30 years combined volunteering

Three Ardmoreites’ inspired by the ‘Love for their Historic Hometown and Preservation of History’ volunteer in the Genealogy Library at the Greater Southwest Historical Museum. Together Dana Pruitt-Boyd, Glenda Shawn-Wallis and Carole Rickets-Martin have a combined 30 years of volunteering at the museum.

Heroes with Hope gears up for the holiday season

Former U.S president Herbert Hoover once said “children are the world’s most valuable resource and its best hope for the future” and “children are the most wholesome part of the race, the sweetest, for they are the freshest from the hand of God”. These quotes still ring as true today as they did 90-odd years ago during his tenure. As evolution would have it, the world has progressed and some of the disadvantages that children faced decades ago no longer affect today’s generation but on the same note, children of today still have obstacles of their own to overcome, some more prolific than others.

Hunnicutt to bring years of law enforcement experience to new role as judge

On Tuesday the citizens of Carter County voted overwhelmingly to elect Ryan Hunnicutt to the office of associate district judge by a margin of over 3500 votes. Though this will be his first time to serve as a judge, Hunnicutt’s unique background has given him first-hand knowledge of the legal system from a variety of perspectives: that of a police officer, that of a prosecutor, and that of a defense attorney. He will be taking all of this experience with him when he is sworn into office in January.
