The memories that stick out
If you had to rank holidays through a child’s eye, it would be hard not to place Halloween in your top three. Christmas is a league of its own and July 4th is hard to beat because of fireworks.

Did you ever wonder why leaves change colors in the fall and why some years everything seems to go from green straight to brown and some years we have spectacular colors in the fall? Fall colors depend on a variety of events coming together in almost perfect harmony to develop beautiful colors. Luckily, we’ve had fairly good conditions this fall with lots of warm sunny days, cool nights above freezing and, hopefully, enough rain. It seems like the foliage has almost changed overnight, at least in the last few days in Southern Oklahoma.
Theft charges dismissed for ex-manager of Marvel’s Stan Lee
LOS ANGELES (AP) — A Los Angeles judge declared a mistrial and dismissed grand theft charges Tuesday against a former business manager of Marvel Comics mastermind Stan Lee. Superior Court Judge George Lomeli dismissed the charges against Keya Morgan, who was accused of stealing from Lee, when a jury was deadlocked 11-1 in favor of acquittal after two days of deliberations and a 2 1/2-week trial.

It’s hard to believe we are already getting ready for the holiday season as we enter late fall. November marks the beginning of Daylight Savings Time and our preparation for the Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s holidays. It also marks the start of a slate of community events here in our community. The Ardmore Chamber of Commerce and our Foundation are excited to be supporting several of these events over the coming month.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Mailers designed to look like official government forms. Buses sporting scam pitches for Medicare websites. TV commercials featuring celebrities who encourage people to sign up for Medicare plans that do not always include their current doctors.

Power blackouts across Ukraine amid Russian shelling
KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — Ukraine’s state electricity operator on Saturday announced blackouts in Kyiv and seven other regions of the country in the aftermath of Russia’s devastating strikes on energy infrastructure.

Met Opera’s “La Traviata” at the Goddard Center
(Ardmore, OK) — The Goddard Center is excited to present via satellite, the Metropolitan Opera’s newest production of Verdi’s classic “La Traviata” on Saturday, November 12. Admission is $20 for the general public, $15 for Goddard Members and senior citizens, and $10 students.

DAR celebrates Veterans Day
Ardmore Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution celebrated Veterans Day by recognizing Vietnam Era veterans with certificates and lapel pins. The meeting was attended by State Regent Nancy Baker Lisle and State Sales Chairman Nancy Perry Poole.
