CASA selling tickets to win locally designed, built playhouse

CASA of Southern Oklahoma will be helping Christmas come early for the winners of a one-of-a-kind playhouse. To help raise funds, the child advocacy organization is currently raffling off tickets to win the playhouse currently on display inside the Shops at Ardmore. The drawing will take place next week, and the playhouse will be delivered on or before December 15.

Drive-through holiday event with Santa and Mrs. Claus to be held at SOLS branches in December

Join the Southern Oklahoma Library System (SOLS) for the annual Santa and Mrs. Claus event! This special drive-through program will be taking place at all SOLS branches throughout the month of December on multiple dates and times. Guests will enjoy a special treat from Santa and Mrs. Claus. Veterans Center receives donation from Stephens County Honor Guard

The US will forever be indebted to veterans that sacrificed themself for the virtues of the country. Because of that momentous patriotism, many streams of outreach and support systems have spawned around the country to express the country’s gratitude and also to help, not just the veterans, but their families who may have been affected by casualties or fatalities that may have occurred.

This is not with the intent to lower gas prices for Americans, but as a “restoration of democracy” in Venezuela. Theodore Vernon “Theo” Blankenship

Funeral services for Theodore “Theo” Vernon Blankenship, 68, will be held Monday afternoon, December 5, 2022, at 4:00 p.m. in the Centennial Chapel of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home with Reverend Bruce Kirby officiating. Interment will be in the Ft. Gibson National Cemetery on Tuesday, December 6, 2022. The son of the late Floyd Blankenship and Amelia Rising Bear Blankenship, Theo was born July 8, 1954 in Lawton, Oklahoma, and passed away in Oklahoma City on November 29, 2022. Theo served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era and was honorably discharged on June 8, 1974. Theo loved life, and could strike up a conversation with anyone and you be become friends when you were finished. He was very proud of his Arapaho heritage and his grandchildren, helping them to learn their native language. He is survived by his son Roger Henry and wife Melissa; grandchildren, Nathan Henry and wife Katarina; Brianna Henry; Kaylee Henry; Roger “Grasshopper” Henry; Cecil Henry, Eva Henry and Alyson Schmidt. He is also survived by his adoptive Ardmore family, Dan and Cheryl Deisher, Ryan Deisher, Sallena and Kevin Franklin; Kayla Deisher and Ross Underwood. Roy Butler

Roy Butler, 96, of Horseshoe Bay, Texas, and formerly of Ardmore, Okla., traded this earthly adventure for a heavenly one on November 15, 2022. Born in 1926 in Rising Star, Texas, to Hazel and Tom Butler, he served in the United States Navy after completing the Officers Training Program at the University of Texas. On his return, he attended Texas Tech University and earned a bachelor’s degree in Geology and a master’s degree in Petroleum Engineering. He began his career with Continental Oil Company as a field geologist in Kansas and Oklahoma before joining Samedan Oil Corporation in Ardmore. He became President of Samedan in 1975 and later became CEO of Noble Affiliates in 1980. Prior to managing the migration of Noble Drilling into a separate entity and spinning off the Noble Foundation as a non-profit research organization, he took Noble Energy public on the NYSE in 1972. He retired as CEO in 1982 but remained on the Board of Directors. He was very active in First United Methodist Church of Ardmore serving as an usher for many years and was active in Methodist Men. He served his community as City Council Chairman and Mayor of the City of Ardmore, and proudly served his industry as President of the Independent Petroleum Association of America. He was named a Distinguished Alumni by Texas Tech University in 1971 and has an endowed Chair in his name at the School of Petroleum Engineering there. He served on the Board at Memorial Hospital of Ardmore, the Salvation Army of Ardmore, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Dornick Hills Country Club in Ardmore, and he delivered for Meals on Wheels in Marble Falls,
