The son of the late Ode Shelton and Rosa Lee (Willmond) Monneyham, Kenneth was born on October 12, 1944 in Talihina, Oklahoma and passed away on April 28, 2022 in a Oklahoma City hospital at the age of 77 years, 6 months and 16 days.
He and the former Bette Jonette (Barrick) were married February 4, 1966 in Marietta, Oklahoma.
A resident of the Southern Oklahoma area for the past 52 years moving here from Colorado. Kenneth was reared in the Madill area where he attended school. He had worked with both Ford Dealers in Marietta and Ardmore as an auto mechanic. Kenneth had worked as a security guard and with Uniroyal where he was a tire builder. In his leisure time he enjoyed fishing, gardening, carpentry, raising chickens, hogs and cows but his favorite of all was getting on his riding lawn mower. He was a member of the Enville Community Church. His proudest memories were being PAPA.
He is survived by his loving wife, Bette; daughters, Barbette Shelton Keith and Kenette Freeman and husband Carlton “Leebo”; 2 brothers, Richard Shelton and Leo Shelton; 8 grandchildren, Jonette, Kenny & Emily Haymes, Cheyenne, Acelynn & Aspen Keith, Kelly Burch and Jordan Demory; 5 greatgrandchildren, Ayden, Abigail & Dean Haymes, Kaiden & Angelina Haymes Soto-Mayor; sisters, Lou Ann Moser, Linda Lou Stroder, Della Blackwood, Sherry Shelton and Leesa Willis and Eddie; preceded in death by his parents; son, Kenneth Shelton, Jr., brothers, Robert, Guy and Bryant Shelton; son-in-law, Mark Haymes.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at the Harvey-Douglas Centennial Chapel with Brother Don Williams officiating. Interment will follow at McMillan Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Jordan Demory, Aspen Keith, Paul Evans, Kenny Haymes, Jaymon Dobbs, Craig Shelton, Brett Lewis and Kelly Birch. Honorary pallbearers will be: Richard Shelton, Leo Shelton, Leebo Freeman, Eddie Willis and Joval Eblen. The family will receive friends at the Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home Monday evening from 6-8 p.m.
