Mike Thompson

Mike Thompson lived a full life. He graduated from Ardmore High School in 1954, went to Southeastern University, and then to the University of Oklahoma where he was a proud Kappa Sigma. He continued to attend reunions, luncheons, and trips with members of his pledge class. His working life took him to many places, including Dallas, TX, Abilene, TX, Memphis, TN, Oklahoma City, OK, and Omaha, NE. He enjoyed his last 45 years with family and lifelong friends in Ardmore. Mike worked for many years for Republic National Life Insurance in the Group Insurance Division and traveled to cities all over the United States. He located all of the good places to dine and was happy to tell you about them. Mike could build or fix anything and was always glad to help friends with their fix-it projects. Mike had a love for the water and sailing. He had always admired the floating homes in Seattle and thought how good it would be to have those on the Lake Murray that he loved so much. He was the brainchild of the Lake Murray Floating Cabins. He designed and built, with his nephew James, the floating cabins that are now on Lake Murray. This project was a great source of pride to him. Mike considered the time spent with his sons, their families, and Ginger priceless. Mike is survived by his Life Partner Ginger Barnes and her family, his son Brian Thompson of New Orleans, LA, his son Matt Thompson, wife Brittany, their sons Neil and Adam all of Dallas, TX, and their daughter Hannah of London, England, his nephews James and Kim Thompson and their family, and John and CiCi Thompson and their family. He will be missed by a host of other family and friends. Memorial services for Mike will be held Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at 10:30 am in the Craddock Memorial Chapel in Ardmore, with Dr. Rick Baggett officiating. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Mike’s name to Ardmore Animal Care, Inc., 321 Carol Brown Blvd., Ardmore OK 73401. Online condolences can be made at CraddockFuneralHome.com
