Jon Mark Lauderdale

Jon Mark Lauderdale (Mark) passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Thanksgiving evening at the age of 68 after a long battle with congestive heart failure. He lived everyday making others feel cared for. Wherever Mark was, a story that involved good times with friends and family was close behind and many laughs. He served in the United States Navy for 21 years as an independent duty corpsman spending the majority of his time on the USS Clark (FFG 11), homeported in Philadelphia, PA. He qualified as a Naval Aircrew Warfare Specialist and was awarded the Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, and the National Defense Medal among others.

He retired as a Senior Chief Petty Officer in 1994, after many years of successful endeavors. He continued his love for medicine and became a physician assistant graduating from Drexel Hahnemann after receiving his B.S. from George Washington University. After living in Washington D.C, Fort Worth, and South Florida, he eventually made his way back to Oklahoma, where he enjoyed his time with his wife and two dogs. He fought through his heart disease for more than 20 years and was always willing to try new and experimental treatments to further medical research and his health. His final wish was to give back to others After his passing, he graciously volunteered his organs to others. Mark loved telling stories, laughing, and joking with new and familiar faces. He was a lover of football, motorcycles, and good music. Mark was born in Bartlesville, OK in 1954 to JoAnn and Bill Lauderdale.

He graduated from Ardmore High School. He is survived by his two children, Lindsay (Stuart, FL.) and Ben (Denver, CO.), his wife, Ann Audley (Tulsa, OK.), and his two brothers CDR, Rick Lauderdale, USN, Ret. (Alexandria, VA.) and Bill Lauderdale (Killeen, TX.). A funeral service will be held in the Centennial Chapel of Harvey Douglas Funeral Home in Ardmore, OK at 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 1st. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery immediately following the service.
