Carter County Clerk Kayelyn Jackson has thrown her hat into the race for a seat on the Healdton School Board.
Jackson, who will leave office at the end of the year, has filed for Seat No. 5. The school board currently has two openings. There have been two filings to set up an election for Seat No. 4, which is an unexpired term. Aaron Hawn, who is currently sitting on the board, has filed along with Lisa Stewart.
The filing period for school board seats will end at 5 p.m., Wednesday. At 1 p.m. Tuesday, there were four contested races. On the other end of the spectrum, no one had yet filed for Seat No. 5 for Ardmore City Schools, Dickson or Fox.
In addition to Healdton, there will be a race for seats on the Plainview and Wilson school boards. Incumbent Ferris Anderson will face challenger Brendan Atencio for Seat No. 5 at Plainview. Greg Whatley will challenge incumbent Bonnie Kennedy for Seat No. 5 in Wilson.
Kolby Robinson is the current lone filing for Seat No. 4 on the Wilson school board.
As of Tuesday, there was only one other race. Jack Jones is challenging incumbent David Lew to serve on Seat No. 2 on the Southern Tech board.
In other area filings, incumbent David Smith has filed for reelection on the Lone Grove board. Another incumbent, Travis Roberts, filed for Springer Seat No. 5 and Callie Brewer has filed for Zaneis Seat No. 3.
