ACS going virtual due to illness

Flu and other illnesses and taken a toll on Ardmore City Schools.

The district announced Tuesday afternoon that it would go virtual Wednesday through Friday due to a loss of students and teachers in the classroom. In addition, all extracurricular activities including athletic games and practices will be cancelled.

Superintendent Assistant Morgan Manley said over 100 students left school after lunch Monday. Tuesday, there were 400 to 500 students absent along with 25 to 30 teachers.

Marietta Public Schools had previously announced that it was closing school Tuesday and Wednesday to allow everyone to get better and to sanitize the school.

In a release, ACS stated that either packets will be sent home, or assignments will be posted on Google Classroom, depending on the grade level. Those with questions can contact their child’s teacher through their ROOMS account.

Over the next three days, district operations staff will thoroughly disinfect buildings, offices and buses.
