A new family friendly event is coming to the downtown district this weekend.
The Ardmore Main Street Authority will host Ardmore Art Adventure from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday. Admission is free with something to offer people of all ages.
“It should be a great event,” AMSA Board Member and Goddard Center Executive Director Chistopher Greening said. “It looks like the weather will hold out for us. Just get out and support Ardmore and downtown.”
There will be more than 20 vendors and West Main Street from A to D Street will be closed off. Ardmore Parks and Rec will be on site with its Plush Stuffed Bears. There will be a bounce house and Ardmore Little Theatre will have a mask painting activity. Greening said there will also be an instrument petting zoo in which kids will have an opportunity to try out different instruments.
“There will be some sidewalk chalk out there for the kids so they can decorate the street up as much as they can for us,” he said.
The Art Adventure will also feature live music from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., downtown.
“We are kicking it all off with a concert here, the Southern Oklahoma Community Band at 10 a.m.,” he said. “There will also be prizes to be won.”
Kids can go to The Goddard Center or the old Ardmore Main Street Authority office and pick up a passport. As they go around to all the different areas, the shop owners will have a stamp to put on the passport. Once it is completed, they can turn it in at The Goddard Center or to the AMSA to be entered into a drawing for a prize. Prizes for kids include gift certificates to The Clubhouse, passes for Goddard Center art classes. The grand prize will be a guitar donated by The Music Depot.
Adults will also have an opportunity to win a prize. For every $10 spent at a participating store they will get a ticket to enter into a drawing. The Goddard Center will give away two four-packs of tickets. The grand prize will be a $200 gift certificate to Lowe’s.
“They do not have to be present to win, but they have to spend to win” Greening said. “The more you support our businesses along Main Street, the more chances you get to enter the drawing.”
Participating businesses will span all the way up to Depot Park. The prize drawings will take place at 2:45 p.m.
