Funeral services for Travis Billingsley, 81, will be Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2009 at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Ardmore, Okla., conducted by Rev. Dan Patman. Private family burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Son of the late Travis P. and Mary Etta Looney Billingsley, Travis was born Oct. 29, 1927, in Nacogdoches, Texas. Following his high school graduation, he was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He and Maureen Tindall were married on Jan. 17, 1953, in Pasadena, Texas, where he attended the University of Houston. They are members of the First United Methodist Church in Ardmore, Okla. In 1963 Travis and Maureen formed Tipton-Billingsley Ford, Lincoln, Mercury in Lufkin, Texas, and in 1975 opened Billingsley Ford, Lincoln-Mercury in Ardmore, Okla. Today the family-owned businesses include Ford, Lincoln, Mercury, Nissan and Hyundai with locations in Ardmore, Duncan and Lawton, Okla.

Surrounded by his family, Travis died Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009 at his home in Ardmore. Travis is survived by his wife of 56 years, Maureen Billingsley of the home; two sons and their wives, Craig and Janie Billingsley of Lawton, Okla., and Michael Travis and Anne Billingsley of Ardmore; one daughter and her husband, Karen and Terry Maresh of Des Moines, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Travis and Tracie Wright, Chris and Collin Bullard, Anna Temple, Sabra and Grannon Billingsley; six brothers, Clifford, Bill, Jerry, Linville, Allen Ray and Johnny Mac Perkins; two sisters, Juanita Johnson and Joyce Mason all of Nacogdoches, Texas. His parents and a sister, Christine, preceded him in death.

Serving as bearers will be Grannon Billingsley, Chris and Collin Bullard, Travis Wright, Terry Maresh and Dr. James Pat Telford.

Memorials may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation for Heart or Cancer. 

A time of support and visitation with the family is scheduled from 5:30 to 7 p.m. tonight at Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home, 2118 S. Commerce in Ardmore.
