District Attorney Craig Ladd said Friday afternoon he has asked Ardmore Police Department investigators to continue their inquiry into sex abuse allegations against an Ardmore businessman.

Ladd said he declined formal charges against Allen McKendrick, who was arrested Thursday on pending charges of lewd acts with a child and rape. But, the DA said that doesn’t mean the case is over and charges remain pending.

“The investigation is still ongoing and our office is working closely with the investigators assigned to the case, Ladd said. “When the supplemental investigation is completed, I will evaluate the matter again for consideration of criminal charges.”

APD Public Information Officer Sgt. Ryan Hunnicutt said Friday the investigation has expanded to include other agencies.

“We are coordinating with area agencies concerning other alleged acts in other jurisdictions,” he said. “While this case involves several locations APD investigators initiated this case based on accusations that allegedly occurred at his  business in the downtown Ardmore area.
