Funeral services for Darryl Skaggs will be Monday, October 31, 2011 11 a .m. at the Craddock Memorial Chapel with the  Rev. Kenneth Lewis officiating. Interment will be at 2:30 p.m. at the McGee Cemetery at Stratford, Oklahoma.

Darryl was born March 8, 1934, at Ravia, Oklahoma, to Frank Skaggs and Inez Rose Skaggs. He passed from this life on October 25, 2011, in Ardmore at the age of 77. Darryl and Helen Sumner were married at El Reno, Oklahoma, on September 7, 1968. He has lived in this area most of his life. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ardmore.

 

Darryl was a Master Distributor of snack foods. He was sales manager for all of Oklahoma and part of Texas for Little Brownie Cookies  and later retired as a self-employed owner of Skaggs Snack Foods. Darryl was a motivational speaker. He loved to drive, and enjoyed going to his favorite place, Colorado and looking at the mountains. Darryl loved restoring cars, woodworking, taking anything old and restoring it back to new. He restored the old Oscar Berry property which later became the Diamond S Ranch. This was one of his most prized restorations.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, and seven brothers and sisters.

 

Darryl is survived by his wife. Helen of the home; daughters, DeAnna Shook and husband, Danny of Moore, Okla., Belinda Skaggs of Oklahoma City, Okla., DaOnne Skaggs of Oklahoma City, Okla.; son, Kenneth Skaggs of Moore, Okla.; one grandchild, Shanain Kemp of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and three great-grandchildren Brittany, Cody, Alicia Scoles, all of Oklahoma City, Okla., and many friends.
Pallbearers will be Jack Sumner, Kent Sumner, Danny Shook, Danny Wadsworth, Ed Evers, Willie Pruitt, and Stan Parks.

 

Honorary bearers will be Carolyn Shelton, Angelya Lane and Marie Pace.
