A 34-year-old Ardmore man was arrested early Tuesday after causing a disturbance at a local motel and then threatening to jump from a second story window.

Police responded at 1:45 a.m. to a disturbance report in the 1900 block of Cooper Drive. When officers arrived they were told the man, who was not a paying guest, had refused to leave the premises. Officers found the man locked in a second story room. He refused to open the door and threatened he would jump from the windows.

Police forced open the door and found the man who had already broken the glass out of the window, standing at the window. He was taken into custody and booked into the Carter County Detention Center.

Tuesday afternoon the district attorney's office filed a misdemeanor charge of malicious injury to property against suspect. He appeared in court where a $500 bond was set.
