Little Dixie Community Action Agency is celebrating Homeownership Month with several home ownership events throughout its eight-county area.

Friday the agency was in Lone Grove where two Self-Help Housing ground-breaking ceremonies took place. The first occurred on Brock Road, signifying a new residence for Shyla Reed. The second occurred on Evergreen Street where Abbrah Snodgrass will be residing.

"Little Dixie has a history of being committed to providing affordable housing to low and very low income people since the mid 1960s," said agency spokesperson Rachel Bailey.

Little Dixie is designed to assist Oklahomans to obtain a better quality of life through a variety of housing-related services, including:

n Housing and credit counseling

n Home buyer education

n Building homes through the USDA self-help housing direct loan program

n Purchasing an existing home through the USDA guaranteed loan program

n Down payment assistance services through grants provided by Oklahoma Housing Finance Agency or Rural Enterprises, Inc.
