How time flies.

Seemingly yesterday, Lone Grove rising senior Haley McCutchen was just a freshman, leading the Longhorns onto the field with no regard for grade or age. Now, entering her final season, the three-time All-Ardmoreite Super Team selection and 2012 All-Ardmoreite Most Valuable Player is looking to close her career with a state tournament appearance with the tradition-rich school. The Longhorns started summer softball last Tuesday.

How has your game changed from your first year on varsity to now?
McCutchen: "Its changed a lot. They look up to me now and its my responsibility to get things going. I've got to be their leader and help them out. It's my job to lead this team now."

Growing up watching the great Lone Grove teams, what do you remember about that?
McCutchen: "I remember when they went to state and when they were driving through the school, seeing them on the bus was just awesome. ... I looked up to them so much. It's been a dream of mine for a long, long time."

Does it bother you that Lone Grove hasn't been back to the state tournament since before you came to high school?
McCutchen: "That's definitely one of our goals. It's really the biggest thing for us this season."

In terms of college ball, what are some schools you're considering?
McCutchen: "I'm still undecided at this point, but I've been hearing from schools like OSU, Western (Oklahoma State College, Altus) and North Central in Gainesville (Texas)."

What is it going to take from you personally for Lone Grove to get back to state?
McCutchen: "I've got to keep everyone positive and helping us become a family. We've got to come together and stay together, because that's what it's going to take. We have a chance and we can do it, if we do those things."
