Horse trailers will once again fill the parking lots of the Oklahoma City Fairgrounds; this time bringing Hunter Jumper participants. The Greater Oklahoma (GO) Hunter Jumper Horse Show kicks off two weeks of competition on Wednesday, July 17. The GO Preview show runs July 17-21 and will feature riders from across North America. The second show, the Central Regional Championship for Zones 6 and 7, follows running July 24-28.

Hunter Jumper competitions like these feature riders maneuvering through a course consisting of jumps varying in height and difficulty. Jumper competitions are common attractions at horse shows across the world and are included in the Olympics. Hunters are judged on style and technique. Jumpers’ scores factor in the horse and riders ability to complete the course in an allotted amount of time.

Admission to the show is free and the public is encouraged to attend. The Grand Prix is Saturday, July 20 and 27 in the coliseum. The International Hunter Derby will take place Friday, July 26 in the performance arena. The Regional Championship will take place Sunday, July 28 in the coliseum.
