Funeral services for Ruby Effie Roberts, 87, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013, in the Centennial Chapel of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Terry Tolbert, pastor of Trinity Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Hewitt Cemetery at Wilson.
A time of visitation and support for family and friends will be from 6 to 8 this evening at Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home.
Daughter of the late William Thomas and Effie (Crowder) Perkinson, Ruby was born Feb. 14, 1926, at Fort Smith, Ark. She had been a resident of Ardmore and southern Oklahoma for the past 67 years until she passed away Friday, Oct. 25, 2013, in the local hospital at Ardmore.
The mother of Ken and Tom Stockdale, Ruby was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, the Birthday Club, the Mattie Bruce Chapter of Order of the Eastern Star, the Magnolia Garden Club and had been a volunteer coordinator for the Military Memorial Museum. She had worked in the medical office of Dr. James V. Miller for 20 years. She and William Henry Roberts were married Feb. 14, 1979, at Houston.
Survivors include her husband, Bill "Sonny" Roberts, Ardmore; two sons, Ken Stockdale and his wife, Kathy, Denton, Texas, and Tom Stockdale and his wife, Jan, Rogers, Ark.; stepsons, Kerry P. Roberts and his wife, Kerry M., Madill, and Kris Roberts and his wife, Tammy, Bixby, Okla.; a stepdaughter, Kathie Hester and her husband, Dennis, Wilson; brothers, Bob Perkinson, Bullhead City, Ariz., and Gerald Perkinson, Menifee, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Elsie Perkinson, Fort Smith, Ark.
In addition to her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by brothers, Bill, Luther and O.L. "Chig" Perkinson; and a sister, Mary.
Serving as bearers will be David Campbell, Terry Barrett, Ray Lord, Charlie Williams, Darrell Ward and Bill Jobe. Honorary bearers include her grandsons and grandsons-in-law.
Memorials may be directed to the Greater Southwest Historical Museum.
