Lawrence O. “Larry” Bussey, 81, passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at his home in Ardmore. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 24, 2014, in The Chapel at Griffin-Hillcrest, with Dr. Alton Fannin officiating. Interment to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Ardmore.
Larry was born to Oliver Lawrence Bussey and Bessie Orlena (Riddle) Bussey on Sept. 11, 1932, at Maud. Larry entered the U.S. Army in 1949, at Seminole. While serving his country during the Korean War, he received the Purple Heart for injuries he sustained while in combat. Larry also earned the Korean Campaign Medal, the United Nations Medal and the Army Occupation Medal (Japan). He was honorably discharged, after achieving the rank of Corporal, on Oct. 10, 1952, at Ft. Bliss, Texas.
In 1954, Larry married Dolores Jones. From that union came three children, Larry, Sandra and Jeff. Going to work for ARCO in 1963, he became a chemical salesman, and then began working in production. He was transferred in 1971 to Ardmore by ARCO. In 1973, he married Linda Rozzell. From that union came one daughter, Amy. He became a drilling foreman in 1986, and one year later opened B&M Oil Service Consultants with Kenneth Mozingo and later, he and his wife Linda opened B&B Oil Service Consultants. He retired in 2002 and continued to pursue his passion for playing golf. Larry was a member of the Ardmore Masonic Lodge, a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the McAlester Scottish Rite Consistory.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Ramon Bussey, Eugene Bussey and Donald Ray Bussey.
Larry is survived by his wife, Linda Bussey of the home; his children, Larry Eugene Bussey and wife Oliva of Frisco, Texas, Sandra Lynn Bussey Primm and husband Mike of Moore, Jeff Lawrence Bussey and wife Misty of Blanchard, and Amy Lea Bussey of Ardmore; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Barbara Irwin of Portales, N.M.
Serving as pallbearers will be Kenneth Mozingo, Bill Reed, Bob Meize, Jim Ward, Bob Spurrier and Warren Herriott.
Larry’s family will receive guests at his visitation from 6 to 8 Friday evening, May 23, 2014, at Griffin-Hillcrest, Ardmore.
