David Brown, Lexington and Lori Brown, Wash­ington, announce the engagement of their daughter, Leah, to Dr. Denver Rushing, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Rushing, Madill.

The future bride is the granddaughter of the late John and Doris Massey; Buster Brown, Maysville; and the late Minnie Brown.

She graduated from Lexington High School and earned her Bachelor’s of Science degree in early child­hood education from the University of Central Okla­homa in Edmond. She will continue her education this fall in the Dental Hygiene Baccalaureate Program at the University of Oklahoma in Norman. She is cur­rently employed as a second grade teacher at Springer Public Schools.

Her fiancé is the grandson of Charlie and Leon Rush­ing, Lebanon; the late Walter Hurst; and the late Jaquita Hurst-Upchurch.

He graduated from Madill High School and earned his Bachelor’s of Science degree with a major in biology and a minor in chemistry from East Central University in Ada. He earned his Doctorate of Optometry and Bachelor’s degree in vision science at Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. He is an optometrist and owns and operates Wells Vision and Laser Eye Center in Ardmore and Healdton Family Eye Care.

The couple plans to be married June 7 in Antigua. A reception is scheduled for June 28 in Ardmore.
