A piano that once belonged to Wild West show performer Pawnee Bill has been restored.

The 1924 Steinway Grand piano at the Pawnee Bill Ranch in Pawnee, Okla., had gone without necessary repairs for years.

But museum curator Erin Brown says a local music teacher was able to raise the funding necessary to restore the historic instrument.

It’s now on display at the ranch, which is run by the Oklahoma Historical Society. Visitors to the ranch can tour the 14-room mansion that Gordon W. “Pawnee Bill” Lillie and his wife once lived in and a museum dedicated to the Wild West show entertainer.

The restoration comes just before next month’s Pawnee Bill Original Wild West Show, an annual recreation of the performance taking place June 13-14.
