Funeral services for Gloria Jeanne Webber will be 2 p.m. Friday, June 27, 2014, at the First Baptist Church of Davis, with the Rev. Frank Duncan officiating. Interment will follow at the Green Hill Cemetery in Davis.
Gloria was born April 30, 1943, in Cold Springs, Okla., to the late Thomas Wesley “Doc” and Helen Faye (Powell) Webber. She died Tuesday, June 24, 2014, in Oklahoma City, at the age of 71 years, 1 month and 4 days.
Gloria grew up in Davis, where she graduated from high school in 1961. She attended the University of Oklahoma, where she graduated in May 1967 with a Bachelor of Science degree in business management. Early in her working career, Gloria had several positions with several companies, including Ling-Temco-Vaught, Saladmaster’s Corp, personal assistant to Mary Crowley, the owner and president of Home Interiors, Century 21 and Geomap, prior to becoming self-employed. In 1979, she opened G. Webber Queen Shoppe in Garland, Texas. Gloria and Ernest “Ernie” Delpino were married on Sept. 24, 1983, in Davis. She and Ernie later opened DeElegance’, an upscale dress shop in Plano, Texas, selling her business in 1994. Not long after the death of her father in 1996, Gloria felt the need to return home to Davis to be near her mother and family.
Gloria was an avid reader. Although she enjoyed countless hours of reading novels, her most favorite reading was the Bible. Throughout her adult life, Gloria provided great care and comfort to three very special poodles, Gigi, Ginger and, most recently, MaPetite.
