Funeral services for Charlotte Maxine Hayes, 76, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Springer Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. John Wylie officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery.

The daughter of Luther B. and Ola Mae Chamberlain Smith, Charlotte was born April 27, 1938, at Springer, and passed away June 24, 2014, in a Sulphur hospital.

Reared in Springer, she graduated from Springer High School and then attended Tulsa Business College. After completing her studies, she began working for Rockwell International, and then later for Oklahoma Natural Gas as a business secretary. She moved back to Springer after 25 years with the company. She served with the hospital auxiliary as a pink lady for 10 years.

She and John P. Hayes were married June 27, 1961, at Springer, and he preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her father, mother, Ola Mae, May 31, 2014, and an infant brother, Milton Curtis Smith.

Charlotte is survived by her son, John Eric Hayes and wife Tracy of Springer; daughter Robin Taylor and husband Glenn of San Antonio; sister Nadine Satterwhite and husband Carroll of Springer; grandchildren Mindy Ellis of Abilene, Texas, Kelly Fowler and Alex Hayes of Springer, Sierra Taylor of Edmond, and Justin and Jordan Taylor of San Antonio; and five great-grandchildren.
