Ardmore police say they have found no signs of foul play connected to the death of a woman whose body was found inside a car parked at a local gas station Friday evening.

Sgt. Bobby Moore, Ardmore Police Department Criminal Investigations Division, said the body of Tammy Mitchell, 47, was discovered shortly before 6 p.m. Moore, who leads the investigation, said the Healdton woman reportedly brought a male companion to a bus stop, located at a gas station at the intersection of West Broadway Street and Rockford Road, about 8 a.m.

“I spoke with the bus driver, who talked to both the man and Ms. Mitchell. He said she appeared to be fine when the bus left,” Moore said, adding police have identified but not located the woman’s male companion who left on the bus.

The car Mitchell was in reportedly remained parked at the gas station throughout the day. Moore said it wasn’t until seconds before police were called that anyone realized the vehicle was occupied.

While Moore indicated investigators suspect the woman may have died as the result of a drug overdose, her body has been sent for autopsy and an official cause of death determination at the state medical examiner’s office.
