Two businesses were damaged and one man injured in a downtown vehicle accident Sunday morning. The accident occurred on North Washington just before 10 a.m. and involved one vehicle.
Ardmore Police Officer Travis Shields said a man driving a sedan had a medical condition, which affected his driving. He ran up on a curb by 19 North Washington, hitting a table and an unoccupied minivan, which was parked on the street.
The table was driven into a window of an unoccupied business, shattering glass. A gas meter was also hit, causing a gas leak. The doorframe to Antiques by Linda also suffered damage.
Because of the gas leak, first responders blocked off the street. The Ardmore Fire Department also responded to the accident.
Shields said the driver hit his head on the windshield and was transported by Southern Oklahoma Ambulance Service to Mercy Hospital Ardmore for treatment.
The gas was turned off at the location and is expected to be out for a couple of days.
