High winds wreaked havoc on electric lines Wednesday with a couple of sizable outages reported in the area.

OG&E reported 644 customers were without electricity during the morning hours with an additional 213 customers in Healdton without power. By afternoon, power had been restored. OG&E spokesman Gene Fryer said the situation is typical with high winds.

“Thirty mile per hour winds will cause them every time,” he said Wednesday afternoon. “

Fryer said crews were out Wednesday working as fast as they could with Davis being restored first. The winds can cause any number of issues Fryer said, particularly with weak spots on the system.

“You can have a conductor on the feeder line go out and then you lose a circuit, or you lose a cross arm and insulators,” he said. “They can just be anywhere in this type of weather.”
