A final day run at the Carter County Election Board ensured several races would take place leading into the April municipal elections.

The position of Wilson Police Chief appears to be a desired position with three having filed although one candidate is expected to withdraw. Ricky Ortiz filed for the office on Wednesday and will face incumbent Felix Hernandez. Ralph Howard has filed for the office but is ineligible to serve because he lives outside of city limits.

The field for the office of Springer trustee is packed with six throwing their name into the ring for three offices. Judy Cavnar, Louise Tovar, Gary Walker and Kenny Walker all filed Wednesday and will join Carmaletta Jo Grinstead and Tim Metzger in the race. Charlene Robinson and Angelia Smith will vie for the office of city clerk/treasurer.

Healdton will feature the other race, as incumbent David Smith will run for re-election against Treva Gage in Ward 2. Incumbent Randy Welch filed for re-election and did not draw an opponent in Ward 1.

Jerren Preston, Michael Edelen and David Huhman will serve as Dickson Trustees and Deborah Preston will serve as town clerk/treasurer without opposition. Frank Schaaf was unopposed for Wilson mayor. Also filing unopposed for the council were Charles Lynch and Juanita Segroves. Ann Marutzky was unopposed for city clerk/treasurer. The city does have vacancies for Ward 4 and Street Commissioner.

Ratliff City has one vacancy for Trustee, four-year term as Micah Newell, Bob Davis and Doreetha Lynn McLemore were the only ones to file for the four open spots.
