Vallie Thelma Taylor, age 87, passed away on April 23, 2015, at Ardmore.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, April 27, 2015 at The Chapel in Griffin ~ Hillcrest Funeral Home with The Reverend George Harjoche officiating. Interment to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.
Vallie was born on March 21, 1928, to Isaac Jefferson and Sally (Gibson) Jefferson in Calera, Oklahoma. She attended Carter Seminary and then went on to attend Sequoia High School. Vallie married Morris Taylor and later moved to Ardmore. She worked at Cooks Laundry and Excelsior Laundry. Her last job was with the Cookie Factory in Marietta, where she retired in 1989. She retired to enjoy her time with her family, sewing, crocheting and quilting. She was a member of South Side Baptist where she taught adult Sunday school. She will be remembered for her piano playing, joy of gospel music, joy of family gatherings, and loved being around her great grand children.
She is preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Cynthia Taylor, three brothers; Danny McElroy, A.P. Jefferson, A. B. Jefferson and one sister, Caroline Carnes.
Vallie is survived by her son, Larry Taylor, daughter, Karen Hickman, six grandchildren; Charla Hill, Tim Hickman, Shelly Clayton, Chad Clayton, Larry Taylor Jr. and Rocky Taylor and 18 great- grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Hubert Johnson, Jordan Sampson, Larry Taylor Jr., Rocky Taylor Chad Clayton and Dewayne Dudley.
Honorary Pallbearers will be David Hill, Tim Hickman Dakota Hickman, Matthew Hickman,
A Prayer Service will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. today, April 22, 2015, at Griffin~Hillcrest.
