Springer teacher Tricia Brown (far right) presents a donation of $150 to the MORE Foundation at Springer Public Schools cafeteria last week. MORE Foundation board member Andrea Anderson (far left) and Roslyn Haile, executive director, accepted the donation that will go towards the non-profit’s mission of helping Carter County students pay for college. Brown, who serves as the student council advisor, said the donation was from the Springer Student Council. During the second semester, students were challenged in penny wars collecting $150. This is the second year the student council selected the MORE Foundation to benefit from the fundraiser. Students selected the foundation because many Springer students become recipients of the scholarship. The foundation awards the MORE Scholarship to Carter County high school graduates from families with average incomes planning to attend Oklahoma colleges, universities, vocational and technical schools. This spring, six Springer graduating seniors were awarded the MORE Scholarship.
