Weather has forced two high schools to move graduation ceremonies inside today and away from the football fields.
Ardmore High School Principal Jake Falvey said the district made the decision late Thursday afternoon based on the weather forecasted for this evening.
“We didn’t get the break we were hoping for with the weather,” Falvey said.
The field conditions at Noble Stadium also factored into exercising the graduation ceremonies “plan B.”
With heavy rains predicted for today, Ardmore seniors will graduate at 7 p.m. in a ceremony held inside the high school gym.
Each senior will be given seven tickets to distribute amongst family, friends and honored guests. The high school has made arrangements for the graduation to be broadcast on Channel 17 through the City of Ardmore.
Additionally, the district will have seating for 300 people in the school’s cafeteria, where the graduation will be shown on a large screen. Cafeteria seating is first come, first serve, said Falvey.
Madill High School also moved its graduation ceremony from the football field to Wildcat Fieldhouse. The graduation is set for 7:30 p.m. tonight. Each Madill senior was given 10 tickets to the ceremony. Additionally, the school will set up overflow seating in the Wildcat Den.
Plainview High School will conduct graduation as scheduled at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Activity Center on the district’s campus.
