Patsy Ruth Kirk Rodden passed from this earth into everlasting life Sunday, July 12. She was born in Indianola, Okla., Oct. 29, 1930, to the late A.H. “Chic” Kirk and the late Pearl Lee Kelly Kirk. She was devoted to her Lord Jesus Christ, her family and her friends.

Patsy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Byron Rodden; son, Byron Dale Rodden; sister, Anna Jean Kirk Smith; and brother, Arthur Curtis Kirk.

She is survived by her daughter, Janet Ruth Rodden Conway and husband, Wayne of Tulsa; son, Kirk Alan Rodden and wife, Angela of Ardmore; brother, Derrell and wife, Aynthia of McAlester; brother-in-law, Leo Smith of Edmond; sister-in-law, Lila Mae Kirk of Mexia, Texas; granddaughters, Sarah Rodden of Stillwater and Rebecca Rodden of Lawton; and grandsons, Christopher Conway of Tulsa and Evan Rodden of Ardmore. She is also survived by a nephew, Vernon Kirk of Glen Rose, Texas; and nieces, Debbie Utley of Edmond, Donna Mitchell of Joshua, Texas, and Laverne Kirk Riddle of Mexia, Texas; and many beloved cousins.

After graduating from Indianola High School in 1949 and a brief career as a textile worker at Seampruffe in McAlester, she married Byron Rodden on Feb. 14, 1953.

After Byron retired from the Naval Ammunition Depot they entered full-time ministry at Caddo, Okla., from 1973-78, Willis, Okla., from 1979-1985, and Gore, Okla., 1986-90. At each, she taught Sunday school, organized ladies Bible classes, card ministries and generally served as a great example of Christian love.

Services will be at 10 a.m. today at North Town Church of Christ. Interment will be at Gethsemane Cemetery at Caddo at 3 p.m. under the direction of Bishop Funeral Home, McAlester.

Pallbearers will be Oben Weeks, Earl Weeks, Walt Weeks, Jerry Mathiews, Jim Kelley and Bill Coop. Honorary pallbearers: dear friends of North Town and Main and Oklahoma Churches of Christ.

A reception will follow at the Caddo Church of Christ.
