Tishomingo Summer Nights provides a break from the heat while enjoying fun activities and community fellowship.
Friday, Tishomingo will host its Summer Nights event from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Main Street. It will start with a sidewalk chalk art contest from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Registration will be at the information booth near Pocket Park. Judging will be at 7:30 p.m. The winners will be announced at 8 p.m.
There are three age groups for the chalk art contest: 8 years old and under, 9 to 14 years old, and 15 years old and up.
“You’re never too old to have a little fun,” said Lisa Rose, volunteer event coordinator.
The chalk and design ideas will be provided. The grand-prize winner will receive a t-shirt featuring the winning art.
There will also be concessions available, including lemonade, sweet tea, snow cones and Dippin’ Dots ice cream. Food vendors will offer curly fries, corn dogs, funnel cakes and cotton candy.
Visitors can also register for free drawings with prizes including a massage from Spa 211, gift certificate to Baker’s Mercantile, free face painting at the next event and four passes to Andy Alligator’s Park.
After sunset, the Chickasaw Nation will present its Movie Night at the Museum film, “The Boxtrolls” on the lawn of the Chickasaw Capitol. They invite everyone to bring lawn chairs and blankets to sit under the stars and enjoy the movie.
The next Tishomingo Summer Nights event is scheduled for Aug. 7.
