MARIETTA — Library patrons are invited to join others at the Love County Library to discuss the second book in the Let’s Talk About It, Oklahoma series “Many Trails, Many Tribes” later this month.
Dr. Robert Greenstreet will present “Okla Hannali” by R.A. Lafferty at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 20.
Part historical novel and part tall tale, European descendant R.A. Lafferty gives another perspective on Native Americans with an interesting twist on the Western genre.
Greenstreet is a former professor of Communication Studies at East Central University. He has taught at colleges and universities in Washington, California, Texas, Iowa and Oklahoma and has published numerous articles in state, regional, national and international journals.
Other books in the series are “Mean Spirit” by Linda Hogan, Sept. 3 and “Pigs In Heaven” by Barbara Kinsolver, Sept. 17.
Funding for this program is provided in part by a grant from the Oklahoma Humanities Council and the National Endowment for the Humanities.
Books may be obtained from the library at 500 South Hwy 77. Library patrons can register for the series by calling (580) 276.3783. The Love County Library is a branch of the Chickasaw Regional Library System.
