Mary Love Hale Stromberg, 95, passed away Aug. 8, 2015, in Mercy Hospital after a brief illness. Mary Love was born Oct. 17, 1919, in Davis, to Gladys (Howell) Hale and Sam Peck Hale.
She moved to Ardmore in 1925. She went to Oklahoma City with her parents to see her grandfather, Dr. T.P. Howell inducted into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame in 1934. She was the Ardmore High School Criterion Queen in 1937. In April of 1937, she left to attend the coronation of George VI and Queen Elizabeth in London. She then toured Europe and attended the Rotary International in Nice, France in June, missing her high school graduation ceremony. She graduated from Gulf Park Junior College in Mississippi in 1939 and graduated from Oklahoma University in 1941, where she was a member of PI Beta Phi Sorority.
She married William H. Stromberg Sept. 27, 1941. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church for over 80 years. A member of the Ardmore Junior Garden Club, Mahjong and Bridge Club. She was very devoted to her family, loved to garden, read books and fish.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Sam Jr.; daughter-in-law, Sue Stromberg; and grandson, Steven Stromberg.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 74 years; their three children, William Jr. (Billy) and his wife, Dana, Hale, and Mary Peck and her husband, Tom Loy; grandchildren, Jeff and Ellis Stromberg, Warren and his wife, Christine, Morgan and his wife, Stephanie and Alyssa Loy, Kathy and Debra Stromberg; and two great-grandchildren, Emilia and Finnian Loy.
Mary Love savored every day, every adventure, every friend and loved one. She was full of wit, wisdom, encouragement and love. She was the most fun loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother anyone could hope for.
A memorial celebration of her life will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2015, in the Noble Chapel of the First Presbyterian Church in Ardmore officiated by Dr. Rick Baggett.
