Services for Kenneth Edward Smith, 77, will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, 2015, in the Centennial Chapel of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home and Crematory conducted by the Rev. David Gardner. Burial will follow in the Lone Grove Cemetery, with the assistance of his grandsons, Michael Smith, Brian Ladner III, Brandon Smith, Devon Van Buskirk and Gus Smith; and nephew, Christopher Nichols serving as pallbearers.
A time of visitation and support for family and friends will be from 7 to 8 p.m. this evening at Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home.
The son of Ernest Edward and Iva (Brummitt) Smith, Kenneth was born April 15, 1938, in Fillmore, Calif., and passed away, Aug. 23, 2015, in an Oklahoma City hospital.
A Lone Grove resident, Kenneth graduated from Lone Grove High School, the class of 1956. He retired from the State of California where he was a med-tech; and was also a saddle and tack dealer there for many years. He had been a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Shriners.
Kenneth and the former Deloris Herrin Ashley were married May 5, 2003, in Lone Grove; Deloris preceded him in death, Oct. 1, 2010.
His father, E.E. Smith, a sister, Ernestine Dickerson and a brother, Perry Smith also preceded him in death.
Survivors include his sons, Michael D. Smith and his wife, Sherry, Kenneth Eugene Smith, Robert B. Smith and Scott E. Smith and his wife, Sarah; daughters, Linda Smith and Melissa Ladner and her husband, Brian; stepchildren, Jimmy Ashley and his wife, Debbie, Debby Worchester and her husband, Danny; his mother, Iva Smith; brothers, A.B. Smith and his wife, Carolyn and Don Smith and his wife, Marilyn; his sister, Marsha Nichols and her husband, Lee; 24 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson.
