Mary D. (Smith) Miller was born on Oct. 18, 1931, to Glenn Dillard and Nita Jones (Richardson) Smith in Oklahoma City. She passed from this life on Aug. 20, 2015, in Alexandria, La. Mary was a native to Oklahoma being raised in Pauls Valley.
She graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in home economics in 1954. Later that year, she married James V. Miller on Dec. 23 in Pauls Valley.
The couple lived in different areas of the United States during her husband’s military service before setting up a permanent residence in Ardmore with their two small daughters. She was a very active member of the First United Methodist Church of Ardmore and involved in her community. In early 2007, the couple moved to Alexandria, La., to be closer to family. Family was the focal point of her life and what she cherished the most. She and her husband celebrated their 59th anniversary in October of last year.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her sister, Glennita Smith of Pauls Valley; daughters, Melanie Sattler and Camille Patton of Alexandria, La.; and grandchildren, Morgan Patton and Jordan Satter, both of San Diego, Hunter Patton, Merrick Patton and Claiborne Patton, all of Alexandria, La.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 28 at Craddock Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Dan Patman officiating. Interment will follow at 3 p.m. at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Pauls Valley.
Her grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
The family will see friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday evening at Craddock Funeral Home.
