A local man, who shoplifted rhinestone and iron-on letters and concealed them by stuffing them in his pants Wednesday was apparently unaware he was also starring in an in-progress crime video.
Ardmore police department reports indicate an officer responded about 2:25 p.m. to a North Commerce Street mall store. The shoplifter had fled but store employees provided the officer with the business’ surveillance video and estimated the value of the stolen razzle-dazzle letters at $50.
Capt. Eric Hamblin, APD public information officer, said when the officer reviewed the store’s video he recognized the shoplifter and located him just minutes later.
What did the shoplifter get for his starring performance? A citation and a municipal court date.
