Leonard L. Burton, 89 of Ardmore, Oklahoma, passed away Thursday, September 17, 2015, in Ardmore. He was born on November 20, 1925, in Sentinel, Oklahoma, to the late Joseph C. Burton and Cleo McVey Wallace Burton.
Leonard married Oita “Cutie” Colson in Ardmore on June 28, 1947, and she preceded him in death on August 28, 2010. They lived in Mannsville before moving to the Arbuckle Lake in 1986. In 2007 they moved to Elmbrook Suites in Ardmore.
Leonard was inducted into the United States Navy on his 17th birthday and served in the South Pacific with the 7th Fleet during WWII. After serving six years in the navy, he farmed until he went to work at Total Petroleum and he retired in 1985. In retirement he enjoyed gardening, fishing on Arbuckle Lake and many hunting and fishing trips with his brother, Joe and friends from Oklahoma City. While living at Elmbrook Suites he enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles, and playing bingo.                      
He is survived by a daughter, Becky Coffman and husband, Jimmy, Ardmore, Oklahoma; sons, Jerry “Pete” Burton, Simpson, Oklahoma, Calvin Burton and wife, Tuya, Mannsville, Oklahoma; brother, Joe Burton, Piedmont, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
 Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 63 years, brother, Don; sister in-law; JoAnne Burton; sister, Lavera Snipes; and daughter in-law, Rita Burton.    
Visitation will be today in Watts Funeral Home, Madill, Oklahoma from noon to 9 p.m. Services will be 2 p.m.,  Monday, September 21, 2015, at the Mannsville Methodist Church in Mannsville, Oklahoma.  Frank Simpson will officiate the service. Interment will be at the Mannsville Cemetery, Mannsville, Oklahoma. Services will be under the direction of Watts Funeral Home, Madill, Oklahoma.
