Tonight, Ardmore High School Orchestra will hold a casual concert to showcase what they have learned since the beginning of the school year.
Separate from the band, and playing only string instruments, 54 students will take the stage at 6:30 p.m. in the AHS cafeteria.
They will be playing a variety of styles of music, with each piece having its own educational purpose. There will be music from the 1700s, 1800s, an Irish jig and even a tango.
“My goal is to prepare them for a future of playing after high school, if they want to play in church, if they want to play in college, if they want to play just for fun. That’s what my goal for them is,” AHS Orchestra Conductor, Jill Hagan, said. “I just want them to love music. That’s all that I want.”
The concert is free and open to the public.
