BURNEYVILLE — In its season opener, Wilson opened with a box-and-one against Turner senior Allie Foster.
Tracy McGill reaped most of the benefits, as she scored seven first-quarter points. Turner survived a 12-5 Wilson run, and won 54-31 Thursday.
Turner (4-0) Scott Pace didn’t express concern at his counterpart’s decision, citing the Lady Falcons’ depth.
Wilson senior Logan Stubbs often served as the spy against Foster.
“If they want to box-and-one someone, we’ll let them do it,” Pace said. “Everybody else can score.”
Shyanne Parker finished with a game-high 18 points. McGill had 11, and Foster had a trio of three-pointers.
Wilson senior forward Kelsee Trapp picked up her third foul with 5:15 to play in the second quarter. Fellow senior Britney Green scored eight consecutive points as part of a 12-5 run that cut the Lady Eagles’ deficit to 22-20. Green led Wilson (0-1) with 11 points.
Turner scored the final four points of the half, and Wilson didn’t score in the third quarter until senior guard Kassidy Morse made a three-pointer from the top of the key as the buzzer sounded.
