A Sulphur man is behind bars in Carter County, detained on outstanding warrants and questioning in connection with Tuesday’s murder/shooting at a northwest residence.

Joshua A. Scott was taken into custody without incident after being located in Sulphur. Late Wednesday the 26-year-old was reportedly being interviewed by Ardmore detectives concerning the shooting death of 35-year-old Erik Tucker and the wounding of a 34-year-old woman at residence located in the 700 block of C Street NW. Court records also indicate Scott is held in the Carter County Detention Center on arrest warrants issued in both Murray and Pontotoc counties.

Scott, who has a number of second-degree burglary and larceny convictions, has served time with the Oklahoma Department of Corrections. He was released from prison in July.

Tucker and the unidentified female victim both sustained what was described as multiple gunshot wounds in the attack. Tucker’s body was sent to the state medical examiner’s office for autopsy. The woman remains hospitalized in critical condition at Plano Medical Center in Plano, Texas.

Two other adults in the house at the time of the shooting were apparently unharmed. Capt. Eric Hamblin, APD public information officer, said Tuesday there were no children in the residence at the time the pair was shot.

The investigation is led by Det. Matt Dunn, APD Criminal Investigations Division. No motive for the murder/shooting has been released. It was unknown at press time whether investigators planned to present reports to the district attorney’s office today for consideration of charges against Scott.

Anyone with information concerning the shooting or the circumstances surrounding the attack are urged to contact police headquarters at (580) 223-1212.
