City hires new chief of police

Early last week, The City of Ardmore swore in a new chief of police. Chief Cameron Arthur comes to the city with over 30 years of law enforcement experience. Most recently, he served as Chief of the Jenks Police Department of Jenks, Okla. for 10 years.

Ardmore City Schools’ Indian Education Parent Committee meetings

Ardmore City Schools’ Johnson O’Malley (JOM) Parent Committee will be meeting on September 6, 2022 at 5:30 p.m. in the Ardmore City Schools’ Administration Center, located at 611 Veterans Blvd. in Ardmore, to fill vacancies within the committee and to review, discuss and vote on the FY 23 JOM contract application.

Slower US job gain in August could aid Fed’s inflation fight

WASHINGTON (AP) — America’s employers slowed their hiring in August in the face of rising interest rates, high inflation and sluggish consumer spending but still added 315,000 jobs. The government reported Friday that last month’s job gain was down from 526,000 in July and below the average gain of the previous three months.

Biden administration awards $1 billion for economic projects

The winners were chosen from 529 initial applicants vying for grants that were part of last year’s $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief package.

Queen to see in new UK leader in Scotland for first time

Associated Press LONDON (AP) — In a first, Queen Elizabeth II will remain in Scotland, where she is taking her summer break, to receive Britain’s outgoing Prime Minster Boris Johnson and his successor next week, royal officials said Wednesday. The 96-year-old monarch traditionally holds audiences with outgoing and incoming prime ministers at Buckingham Palace, her official London residence.
