When pet owners think about protecting their animal from parasites, the first creepy creatures that come to mind are often fleas, ticks, and heartworms. But one less well-known parasite to watch out for is Giardia, which has strains that infect dogs, cats, and even people.

Animal shelter seeks temporary foster homes for adult dogs

For going on three years, Ardmore Animal Care has been transporting pets to other shelters via vans, trucks and the highway. Later this month, some animals will also be taking to the skies. The shelter will be partnering nonprofit animal rescue Dog is My CoPilot, Inc. based out of Wyoming, and on June 17 the first round of animals from Ardmore will be taking their first flight.

The Star Reader program challenges your children to read five books from June 1 until July 29 to get rewards.
