The House and Senate sides of the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules met together for the first time Thursday afternoon, and Co-Chairman Rep. Terry O’Donnell (R-Catoosa) withdrew a resolution that sought to reject rules promulgated by the Oklahoma State Department of Education related to HB 1775, a 2021 bill that banned the teaching of certain concepts regarding race and gender in Oklahoma’s public schools.
Ardmore Kiwanis Club named Gavin Nalley Student of the Month for May. Gavin is the son of Jeffrey and Amanda Nalley. He is a senior at Plainview High School where he maintains a 3.69 GPA. He is a member of the Academic Team, Choir and has been involved with Ardmore Little Theatre. Nalley’s honors and awards include being a published author, placing third in Junior Scholar Scholastic and placing second in World History. His hobbies and interests include reading, bottle collecting, card games and writing poetry. He has worked at Scooter’s Coffee. After high school, he plans to attend Murray State College to double major in forensics and psychology to become a forensic pathologist or psychologist.
Ardmore Rotary Club named Caleb Williams Student of the Month for May. Caleb is the son of Joy Fannin, and the grandson of Judy and Alton Fannin. He is a senior at Ardmore High School where he maintains a 3.8 GPA. William’s honors and awards include being named Student of the Month. He has worked at Urban Air and a videography/photography business. His hobbies and interests include videography and photography. After high school, he plans to pursue a career in video production.
NEW YORK (AP) — Henry Winkler is busy as ever these days, but the actor is still making time to write a memoir. Celadon Books announced Wednesday that it has a deal with Winkler to tell his life story.

Lawns waste a lot of water and take a lot of time, energy, and expense; but most people aren’t willing to totally convert all their lawn area to hardscape and ornamentals. Mowing is just something that must be done if you want your home to look beautiful and well cared for. Think of mowing as good exercise and a chance to get out in the fresh air and sunshine. With the rain we have been blessed with recently this spring, the lawns are growing quickly. The problem is to let the grass and soil dry out enough to mow without causing damage and still not let the grass get too tall before the next mowing.
