Kiwanis Student of the Month

Ardmore Kiwanis Club named Gavin Nalley Student of the Month for May. Gavin is the son of Jeffrey and Amanda Nalley. He is a senior at Plainview High School where he maintains a 3.69 GPA. He is a member of the Academic Team, Choir and has been involved with Ardmore Little Theatre. Nalley’s honors and awards include being a published author, placing third in Junior Scholar Scholastic and placing second in World History. His hobbies and interests include reading, bottle collecting, card games and writing poetry. He has worked at Scooter’s Coffee. After high school, he plans to attend Murray State College to double major in forensics and psychology to become a forensic pathologist or psychologist.

Rotary Student of the Month

Ardmore Rotary Club named Caleb Williams Student of the Month for May. Caleb is the son of Joy Fannin, and the grandson of Judy and Alton Fannin. He is a senior at Ardmore High School where he maintains a 3.8 GPA. William’s honors and awards include being named Student of the Month. He has worked at Urban Air and a videography/photography business. His hobbies and interests include videography and photography. After high school, he plans to pursue a career in video production.

“Susan Yeager Party & Concert” at The Goddard Center

The Goddard Center is proud to present Susan Pfau Yeager in concert. She will be accompanied by pianist Dr. Danise Gallaway, Adjunct Professor of Music at Murray State College and owner/teacher at Gallaway Studio, an independent piano studio. This concert will be at the Goddard Center on June 3rd at 7:30pm. Dinner and cocktails will be served one hour prior at 6:30 p.m. Tickets to this event with the meal are $75. Reservations for the concert only are $25. Proceeds from this event support the Goddard Center’s Capital Campaign and renovation.

We talked about lawn care, watering, and fertilizing last week so we are going to talk a little about common sense mowing methods this week. Lawns waste a lot of water and take a lot of time, energy, and expense; but most people aren’t willing to totally convert all their lawn area to hardscape and ornamentals. Mowing is just something that must be done if you want your home to look beautiful and well cared for. Think of mowing as good exercise and a chance to get out in the fresh air and sunshine. With the rain we have been blessed with recently this spring, the lawns are growing quickly. The problem is to let the grass and soil dry out enough to mow without causing damage and still not let the grass get too tall before the next mowing.
